Review: Is Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls Worth It?

This summer, my mother-in-law, husband, daughter and I stayed at Marriott on the Falls in Niagara Falls for two nights. We splurged on a falls view suite, parked our car in the Marriott lot and ate from the Milestones in the hotel.

Suffice to say we got the full hotel experience. So after all that, is Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls really worth it?

Yes and no.

Overall, we had a nice stay and a pretty good view of the falls. But as I’ll get into in my complete review below, there is a lot of room for improvement with this hotel!

Checking into Marriott on the Falls

We drove from Toronto for our stay at the Marriott, one of the many ways to travel from Toronto to Niagara Falls. After a stop at the Niagara Outlets (truly, a must on any Torontonian’s falls itinerary), we arrived at the hotel just before 3pm.

As check-in was at 4pm, we thought we’d try our luck for a slightly early check-in. Unfortunately, no dice. But that was fine, as we still got to store our bags with the bell hops.

The whole experience was a bit unpleasant though. My mother-in-law was having a hard time understanding the person working at the front desk and found her to be quite curt in her responses.

It was also unclear exactly who we should give our bags to; we ended up wandering around the front of the hotel for a bit. When we eventually came back to check in, there was more confusion over whether we should pick up our bags ourselves or if they’d be brought to our room.

None of these were huge issues, but it just started our experience off on the wrong foot. It would’ve been so easy for the hotel to offer a smoother check-in process that makes their guests truly feel welcome.

Parking at the hotel

As I mentioned, we drove to Niagara Falls and so needed to park our car. Marriott on the Falls has a parking lot attached where you can pay to park for $45 CAD ($32 USD) per night. (There’s also a $65 CAD/$46 USD per night option if you want valet parking.)

$45/night is steep for parking! Especially since you’ll also have to pay in other parking lots around town when you go out to do activities.

But that does seem to be the going rate for hotel parking in Niagara Falls. It’s even more expensive if you’re not a guest!

We visited mid-week in August and were always able to find a spot for our car in the outdoor parking lot. The lot was busy, but never full.

Location: A Niagara Falls hotel by the falls

A lot of people book Niagara Falls hotels by the falls because they want to have the best view and the best access. Makes sense, right?

Not always. Because of how Niagara Falls is shaped and because of where the attractions are located, you can be really close to the falls but actually have a terrible view or be really far from the attractions.

The hotels located on Fallsview Blvd are said to have – as the name suggests – the best view of the falls. They are closest to the water with views of the American Falls straight ahead and Horseshoe Falls to the right.

I would argue that Marriott on the Falls is actually too close to the falls (I guess it really lives up to its name!).

This hotel is located on the south end of Fallsview Blvd, very close to Horseshoe Falls. That sounds good, but it actually means you can’t see the entire horseshoe-shape because you’re so close to it.

That’s not to say the views from Marriott on the Falls are bad but I think hotels that are a bit further north on Fallsview Blvd would have better views.

In terms of activities, the Fallsview Blvd hotels are up on a cliff above the falls. Besides the Fallsview Casino, you’ll have to drive, bus or take a day tour to almost everything you want to do in Niagara Falls.

Clifton Hill – the centre for nightlife, games and fun on the falls – is a 30 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) from Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls. It’s a similar walk/drive time from the hotel to Niagara City Cruises, where the boats to the falls leave from.

Even attractions that seem close, like Niagara Power Station or Journey Behind the Falls, are still a half hour walk from the hotel because you have to go around the cliff.

However, you can take the Falls Incline Railway (only a five minute walk from the hotel) as a short cut.

Dining at Marriott on the Falls

I was excited to see that Milestones on the Falls Restaurant was the in-house dining option at the Marriott. Milestones is a well-known chain in Canada that I’ve eaten at many times. It’s not the best food in the world, but it’s solid.

Because we had Baby C with us who was already in bed, we decided to get our Milestones dinner to go and eat in our room. Colin, my husband, headed down to the restaurant to pick it up.

He ended up waiting a very long time for our food. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in the summer tourist season, but this was an exceptionally long wait.

And when he did finally bring our food up to the room, we discovered they had forgotten some of our order. Luckily, someone from the restaurant came up to drop it off and we didn’t have to go back down.

Unfortunately, our Milestones dinner wasn’t great. Colin and I split two of their burgers and weren’t horrible impressed with them. My MIL didn’t love her meal either.

We ended up paying $138 CAD ($98 USD) for three mains, including tax and tip. No drinks, no appies and two of those mains were just sandwiches. Needless to say, everything felt overpriced and not at all worth the long wait.

Rather than risk dining at the Marriott again, we went out for breakfast the next morning. We drove five minutes to Stacked where we had delicious, fast and affordable meals. I highly recommend Stacked over the multiple IHOPs along Fallsview Blvd.

For dinner that night, we got takeout from Turtle Jacks, which is just a few minutes’ walk from Marriott on the Falls. Our Turtle Jacks dinner worked out much better than Milestones. It was cheaper and the food tasted better.

Though funny enough, once again part of our order was forgotten! This time a server came running down the street after me so they could give me the forgotten tortillas I definitely would need for my fajita dinner.

Disappointing service at the hotel

One of the worst parts about our stay at Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls was how hard we had to work to get a crib in our room.

When we first booked our room online, we requested a baby crib. We received a response that the hotel couldn’t guarantee a crib but would try their best.

When we showed up before check-in time, we again asked about the crib. The person working at reception said it was no problem and a crib would be sent up to our room.

We assumed this meant that when we came back to actually check in, the crib would already be there. But nope, no crib. So we called down to the reception desk and were told the crib would be on its way.

After 45 minutes (during which time repair people came to fix our sink, which had broken), we called the front desk again. And again, they told us the crib was coming.

At this point, it was getting a little bit ridiculous. We had emailed asking for a crib ahead of time, asked when we checked in, and called twice to ask for it. Each time we were told the crib was on its way.

Frustrated – and with a baby who was now a good 30+ minutes past her nap time – my husband went back down to the front desk to ask for the crib in person.

Even then, he had to insist the person working at the desk actually call housekeeping to request the crib now, rather than continually assuring us it was on its way.

In the end, it took over an hour – and asking five separate times – to finally have a crib delivered to our room.

Again, I understand that hotels get busy. But this was egregious! At no point did they explain how long it would take so we could at least manage our expectations or put our daughter down to nap somewhere else.

And when the crib finally did arrive, we were pretty disappointed with it. It looked tired and unsafe with rickety metal railings, an old gym mat-type mattress, and no proper crib sheet.

Instead of a crib sheet, they just folded a full size sheet on top of the mattress. As parents to babies will know, it is extremely unsafe to put your child in a crib with extra bedding and sheets that don’t fit as there’s a suffocation risk.

This was our first time requesting a crib from a hotel (we usually bring our own) and, frankly, it might be our last.

It was such a painful experience to get the crib and then to finally get it after all that trouble, only to see that it was in such bad shape, was really disappointing. I expected a lot better from a four-star hotel.

All right, let’s get to the room review!

We were staying in a Junior Presidential Suite on the 5th floor. My mother-in-law splurged on a suite so that we could have a separate bedroom, making it easier to put Baby C to sleep while the rest of us stayed up.

And because it was her first visit to Niagara Falls, she also wanted to book a falls view room. So the Jr Presidential Suite it was!

The suite itself was very large. There was a big entryway, huge bathroom with a giant tub and separate shower, separate bedroom with a king bed and desk, small kitchen area, and big living space with two couches and a table.

The highlight was definitely the view. One entire wall was covered in windows that looked out over Niagara Falls. We spent many hours sitting by the windows and taking it all in.

But it wasn’t the best view. Being on the 5th floor, it felt like we were too low and half of our view was just the street in front of the hotel. I think a higher floor would’ve given us a better angle on the falls.

And, as I mentioned above about the location, Marriott on the Falls is so far south that you actually can’t see the horseshoe-shape of Horseshoe Falls. A hotel further north would’ve been better.

There was also a lot of mist clouding our view, but of course you can’t do much about that! If anything, it just proves how powerful Niagara Falls really is.

For the price we were paying for the suite, we were expecting a luxurious experience. Unfortunately, that isn’t what we got.

The chairs at the dining room table all had ripped upholstery and the settee couch had wrong-size cushions on it. These made the room feel dated and cheap.

The pullout couch was uncomfortable and old, the kitchen wasn’t well-stocked, and even the toilet paper was super thin.

Not everything was bad. The king bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and as I said, we enjoyed the view. But overall, we were disappointed (especially when you see how much it cost us!).

Full cost of our Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls stay

Here’s the breakdown of everything we paid to stay in a Jr Presidential Suite for two nights at Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls in August 2025:

• Extra guest fee: $50
• Taxes & fees on the room: $351.80
• Parking with taxes & fees: $54.87/night
• Milestones on the Falls dinner for three: $138.02

So we spent a grand total of $1977.82 CAD ($1410.86 USD) for two nights in a falls view suite, two nights of parking, and one mediocre dinner.

Ugh, that hurts to see those huge numbers. That’s a fifth of what we spent on a three-week trip to New Zealand – one of the more expensive countries to travel around – which also included international flights, car rentals, and all of our meals and activities!

As painful as that number is, keep in mind that Niagara Falls is an expensive place to stay. Especially in the summer – and especially if you want a falls view and a separate bedroom – you’re going to be paying a lot for it.

Accommodation costs always jump up when you factor in all of the extras (parking, taxes, fees, extra guest) and we should’ve just skipped the expensive Milestones dinner.

But even the base rate for the room feels high to me considering the disappointments we had with the service and the subpar state of the room.

The view and location can’t be helped, but there were some changes that could’ve been made to make that $664 CAD/night* feel much more worth it.

*Actually, it was $920 CAD/night when you add in the taxes, fees, extra guest and parking. So almost $1K CAD/night and we couldn’t get a crib delivered within an hour, chairs without rips in them and more than 1-ply toilet paper? C’mon!

Where else to stay: What are the best Niagara Falls hotels with views of the falls?

From walking around Niagara Falls and doing more research online, I’ve got my eye on a few other hotels for our next visit to Niagara Falls.

Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Embassy Suites Fallsview are said to have some of the best views of the falls. Seeing them from our window, it definitely looked like they were in a better position to see Horseshoe Falls and the nightly fireworks.

Another option I was considering was Cannery Lofts. These are apartment-style suites with separate rooms and small kitchens. They’re farther from the falls, so don’t offer a view, do have more space for families. Plus, they’re much more affordable!

Or, you could stay in Niagara on the Lake! This charming town is a 30 minute drive from Niagara Falls. It’s a lot quieter than Niagara Falls and would be a better choice if you want easy access to the shops, restaurants and wineries of NOTL.

Wrapping up: Do I recommend Marriott Niagara Falls on the Falls?

It’s probably no surprise that I can’t whole-heartedly recommend Marriott on the Falls for your stay in Niagara Falls.

While our room was large and the view was pretty good, the customer service and furnishings were a disappointment. It was not worth the high price we paid to stay there.

If you happen to get a good deal at Marriott on the Falls, or save money by not booking a falls view room, it could be a good choice for you. It wasn’t a bad stay by any means; it just didn’t live up to our expectations.

I think the worst part of the experience was that we were let down. This was my mother-in-law’s first visit to Niagara Falls and she was so excited to stay in a fancy hotel with a gorgeous view.

And while we still did enjoy the view and make the most of it, there were just too many moments of disappointment. I wanted this trip to be perfect for her and it sucked that it wasn’t.

It’s one thing if the view isn’t up to par (I’m not expecting them to move the hotel for us) but to also fall short on simple things, like delivering a crib without needing to be asked five times and having cushions that fit on the couch, is just unfortunate.

Like I said, it was still a fine stay. We had lots of space for the four of us and enjoyed watching the lights and fireworks from the window. My MIL loved waking up to the falls in the morning!

But would I choose Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls again or recommend it to future visitors? Probably not.
