12 Travel Bloggers Who Will Inspire You to See the World

I first discovered travel blogs in my dorm room during my second year of university when I wanted to do anything but study for my midterms. I was dying for an adventure and planning my great escape. Seven years later, I’m still mapping out new adventures, and luckily I have a whole host of travel bloggers to turn to for inspiration, advice and friendship.

When I have a trip to plan, want to lose myself in a story or just need to scroll through some beautiful photos, these are the 12 travel bloggers I turn to:

Christine at C’est Christine

C’est Christine is probably my favourite blog to read. I love how Christine tells a story and I so admire the life she leads. I always joke that she’s living my life – only better. She works from home, relocated to the west coast, met her guy on OKCupid and has a dog – like me! Except she also manages to practice yoga, read books for fun and bring home fresh flowers – all things I aspire to do. I love that her blog is not just travel; it’s about her real life too.

 

Steph at Why Wait to See the World

Why Wait to See the World (previously, Twenty Something Travel) was the very first travel blog I started reading. It was my inspiration. It was the blog that motivated me to go on my first solo trip to Europe. I owe a lot to Steph and her site. These days, Steph and her travel blogger husband are living their dream with a dog and baby in Italy. Can I do that one day?

 

Helene at Helene in Between

I found Helene in Between a couple of months ago and can’t believe it took me this long to find this amazing blog! I started reading about how Helene and her husband (and their two dogs) packed up their whole lives to move to Germany and I was so inspired. That’s exactly what I want to do! I also owe this blog’s existence to Helene. I followed her steps for setting up a blog and took my old site public.

 

Liz at Young Adventuress

Liz is living her best life as an American expat in New Zealand. I absolutely love Liz’s no bullshit approach to sharing, her beautiful photography and her huge love for birds. Liz is doing the solo female adventures I can only dream of. When I eventually make it to New Zealand, I can’t wait to follow all of Liz’s best tips from Young Adventuress.

 

Matt at Nomadic Matt

Matt is another one of my OG travel bloggers. I discovered his site back in 2012 and quickly deemed it my budget travel bible. Whenever I have a trip planned to somewhere new, I look up the destination guide on Nomadic Matt and get a quick lay of the land. His site is an amazing resource!

 

Kate at Adventurous Kate

Kate is another one of the travel bloggers that I have been following forever. When I first found Kate’s site, I was amazed at the rapid pace in which she was seeing the world. These days, she’s traveling a bit slower with a home base in New York. But she’s still going on new adventures and writing great posts, especially for solo female travellers.

 

Glo at The Blog Abroad

The Blog Abroad is a new find for me and I’m so glad I stumbled on it. The first post I read was Glo’s birthday post and I found myself nodding along the entire time. It’s like she was talking right to me! Everything Glo said I totally agreed with. And then I headed to her Instagram page, and found out that on top of being an awesome writer, she takes the best photos!

 

Amanda at A Dangerous Business

Amanda’s blog is another new addition to my weekly reading list. I love that she does solo travel as well as with family, local and international. Her posts are so much fun to read while also being super informative and helpful. I was looking at places to go for high tea when we’re in London in October and Amanda’s post was a god-sent!

 

Ashley at Ashley Abroad

Another new find! Ashley Abroad is a really great blog not just for traveling abroad but also living abroad. I love reading about Ashley’s time as an au pair and life in Uganda. Her expat series, interviewing other expats around the world, is my favourite. I love hearing from people who are living this awesome international life all around the world.

 

Gwen at Full Life, Full Passport

I discovered Gwen’s blog shortly after bringing my own public and starting an Instagram page. As well as sharing awesome travel adventures, great stories and beautiful photos, Gwen is also the most supportive and sweet person on the internet! She has been so kind to me through social media and comments and it’s been a joy to watch her blog grow.

 

Lauren at Never Ending Footsteps

Never Ending Footsteps has been around for a while but it’s a new find for me. Lauren’s photos are breathtaking and her travel itineraries could make you dizzy. But the best part about her blogs is how open and honest she is. Lauren doesn’t shy away from the hard parts of traveling, or the hard parts of life, for that matter. Her authenticity is what makes her blog so inspirational and fun to read!

 

Shandos (& Schnitzel!) at Travelnuity

I stumbled upon Travelnuity when I was researching options for traveling and living abroad with our dog, Ellie. Shandos, and her dog, Schnitzel, made it all seem not only possible but really fun. Shandos has awesome advice for the logistics of traveling with a dog as well as so many cute photos of her pup from all around the world!

 

Why so many female travel bloggers?

Why not? Since I’m a female traveler and blogger (not quite ready to lump myself in with the “travel bloggers” but I guess the shoe does fit), I’m drawn to other young females like me who are out there seeing the world and living life to the fullest. I find I relate better to their stories and perspectives. All of the women on this list are amazing storytellers and photographers. I’m sure there are lots of male travel bloggers who can snap a good pic and tell a good story too, but these ladies are really killing it!
