Teaspoon of Adventure: A Family Travel Podcast
Welcome to Teaspoon of Adventure: A Family Travel Podcast!
Teaspoon of Adventure: A Family Travel Podcast is for travel-loving parents who want to plan adventures that actually work for their family, whether that’s a local weekend away or moving to the other side of the world for a year.
On this show, you’ll hear honest advice for travel with kids, first-hand trip reports, breakdowns of the biggest issues in family vacation planning, and practical baby and toddler travel tips you can use on your next family trip.

Meet your travel podcast host
I’m Riana, a travel writer and mom. I started my travel blog, Teaspoon of Adventure, in 2012 and have travelled to almost 50 countries. After welcoming our daughter in 2025, my husband, Colin, and I spent nine months exploring Canada and Europe with our baby, C, and dog, Ellie, along for the ride.
That experience taught us a lot about how to travel with a baby, and now I’m sharing everything we’ve learned and continue to learn as we see the world with our toddler.

What you’ll hear on Teaspoon of Adventure: A Family Travel Podcast
Baby & toddler travel how-tos
These practical episodes will help you solve a specific family travel problem – recovering from jet lag, figuring out what to pack, deciding where to stay – based on my real life experience of travelling with my daughter.
Trip reports
Hear first-hand trip reports from the destinations we visit. I’ll dive into what we did, where we stayed, where we ate, the highlights and lowlights, and all of the family travel logistics. Take my recommendations and recreate the trip itinerary for your family!
Comparisons & decisions
In these episodes, I’ll go through the pros and cons of some of the biggest debates in family travel. Should you stay in a hotel or an Airbnb? Should you take a carrier or a stroller? Carry-on or checked luggage?
Mistakes, lessons & experience-based advice
It’s nice to hear from the experts but it’s even better to hear from a parent who’s been there and made the mistake so you don’t have to. Learn from us and hear about everything I wish I had known and what I’d do differently on the next trip.
Long-term & out of the box family travel
We travelled for nine months with our baby (and our dog!) so I’ll be sharing lots of my thoughts and learnings on long-term travel, slow travel, working on the road and temporarily living abroad. And who knows what kind of family adventure we’ll go on next?
