The Best Log Cabin Weekend in Hope, BC
After my New Zealand trip fell through, I was kind of in a rut. I just wanted to go somewhere. So we came up with the idea to go on a little weekend getaway. And we found the perfect log cabin in Hope, BC!
Once I got Colin on board with a log cabin weekend, I spent tons of time online looking up different resorts, hotels and other cabin options. I didn’t really care where we were going; it just had to be a rustic log cabin. I wanted to feel like I was walking into an Instagram photo. Since it would just be for a weekend in the middle of the winter, I wasn’t concerned with being in a cool place or having lots to do. I just wanted something cozy, made out of wood, and with a scenic view.
And that’s exactly what we got! We found the best log cabin for a weekend away on Lake Kawkawa in Hope, BC.
I found the cabin on AirBnB just by chance. We drove just under two hours and arrived at this massive log cabin off the road. It’s one of those places where you can’t see any other houses. All we could see were trees, mountains, the lake and so much snow.

The house was beautiful – truly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. And our AirBnB host was so nice – she even helped us back our car up the driveway when we got stuck.
We stayed in a separate apartment that was part of the house. And it was just so perfect! The whole thing was log cabin style with the huge wooden logs. There was a high vaulted ceiling with windows at the top. The bedroom was up in a loft with a comfy bed and TV. Downstairs there was a nice big couch, totally equipped kitchenette and the most luxurious bathroom. The tub was massive! Seriously, my dream tub!

The best part was absolutely the views. I had to pinch myself everytime I looked up and took in how gorgeous this place was. And that’s pretty much all we did for the entire weekend. We looked at the view and we watched a ton of movies and TV shows. It was so nice to just spend a few days doing nothing and totally vegging out.
We had wanted to go to the Othello Tunnels, but they don’t open until April. Honestly, I didn’t mind too much. It meant more time staring out the window, watching shows with Colin and Ellie, and soaking in the tub.

We did leave at one point to go and get lunch from a little diner in Hope. It was very cute and their homemade pie was delicious!
Our log cabin weekend was absolutely magical. It was so nice to not think about work stuff or chores from home. It was awesome spending a whole weekend with Colin and lots of time with Ellie. And those views! I can’t get enough.
I would highly recommend a picturesque weekend away, if you can swing it. It might not be exotic or far away like New Zealand. But there’s something really wonderful about doing absolutely nothing in a beautiful setting!
Where do you go when you just need a weekend away?

Wow, breathtaking views and such a cute and luxurious log cabin…something out of movies! So glad you guys loved it, including Ellie!
Thanks, Moo! Yes, it was very luxurious. We all loved it!
This is adorable! I’m going to have to find this listing for future reference 😍
Thanks so much! The title of the listing is “Suite in Log House w/ Loft Bedroom” if you’re looking for it!
This looks so nice. I’m a big cabin getaway person. We had one in Sechelt last year at an Airbnb and it was the most relaxing weekend. I can’t wait for winter cabin time!
It was lovely! A cabin getaway is such a nice relaxing vacation. Hope we can get to one or two this year!
